Owned/Leased vehicles

Vehicle use includes travelling in vehicles that are owned or leased. Owned electric vehicles should be reported as part of your Scope 2 electricity usage.
GHGP reporting position:
  • Scope 1
  • Scope 3 C8: Upstream leased assets
Preferred units of measurement:
  • Volume: litres, cubic metres
  • Distance: miles, km
  • Currency: GBP, USD

Data required

Vehicle-use emissions should be calculated in this priority order:

  1. Fuel-use
  2. Total distance travelled by vehicle type or
  3. Total spend on fuel

For business travel with a supplier, eg. a trainline, taxi or airline report in Scope 3 C6 (Business travel). The data required is similar but suppliers are unlikely to provide fuel-usage data.

Vehicle use data in this order of priority:

  • Total volume of fuel used or
  • Total distance travelled by vehicle type or
  • Total spend on fuel
  • Mode of transport
  • Unit of Measure - litres,
  • Dates of consumption
  • Origin/Destination locations
  • Distance travelled
  • Number of trips
  • Vehicle name and/or type
  • Any other data, eg. purchasing data
  • Assigned Segment

Not all fields may be applicable.
